Bob Jackson Racing Team

Bob Jackson Cycles has sponsored various clubs, teams & riders from the early days, including, its own teams, Leeds St.Christophers Cycling Club, Leeds R.R.C. & Peter Jaques. The latest team was formed in 1998 when Matthew Payne approached Donald Thomas the current MD of Bob Jackson Cycles . A nucleus of riders soon set about deciding on how the team should run with Donald, Malcolm Bradbury, Paul Kirk & Adam Payne all giving suggestions as to the way forward.

Soon word spread through the Yorkshire Cycling community about the new team & riders, disillusioned by reasons as diverse as the politics, constant demands for help & colour of strip in their current clubs, had signed up for the 1999 season. We could be summed up as a group of cyclists that enjoy racing, we are involved in most sides of road & track racing, and consist of cyclists taking their first steps in competition through to experienced world champs. We are also represented on the British Cycling board & competition work group in Yorkshire . Bob Jackson Cycles is the base for the club and where Matt is Retail Manager. Matt has raced hard & grass track, road raced as well as competing in time trials & hillclimbs, he also has promoted road races, is current organiser of West Riding Track League at Roundhay, the Bob Jackson RT Tandem 50mile time trial, the Bob Jackson RT Evening Road Race, is on the British Cycling Yorkshire competition workgroup and is an elected member of the British Cycling Yorkshire Board

We jointly promote the summer long Tadcaster time trial league, a pay on the line race series that caters for riders of all standards, from those wanting to try time trialing for the first time to experienced riders honing their form before National or World Championships.

Co-ordinating our commitment to this league is Paul Kirk who also is a crucial member of the retail section of Bob Jackson Cycles .

We have riders time trialing throughout the year, from the hilly & mountain time trials, through the fast flat mid season to the end of year lung busting hillclimbs. We have road racers & track riders competing at various times through the year & have been represented at the National Circuit 10, 50, 100, 12 hour, Hillclimb Championships & World Masters Track Championships.
